Headline - Congratulations To Hurricane Bill... The 2012 Wise Guys Champion!
A wild finish down stretch and able to hold off the field, Hurricane Bill is the 2012 Wise Guys Contest Champion finishing with 36pts. He is followed by 2nd Place finisher Tom Freese with 35pts, along with six contestants ending in a tie for 3rd place. The Six pack highlights Brew City Sports, Mr. East, Nelly's Sports, Richard Witt, Ross Benjamin Sports, and the The Wies Guy all collecting 34pts. Three contestants collected 13 wins in the 2-star column sharing the Best Bet Crown and they include Hurricane Bill, Mr. East and last year's defending champion & Best Bet Champ Nelly's Sports. The 4-week mini prize is also shared 3 ways this year by Peter Brown, The Wies Guy and media expert Ken Thomson all earning 11pts during the final four weeks of the contest. This is the 28th year of this competition and this year's contest goes back to its original roots, when the participants paid an entry fee and gambled with their own money.
This is an 18-week contest which will have approximately $10,000.00 in prize money. We are proud to announce the new Sports-Watch.com monitor will be one of our main sponsors this season.
We are also pleased to welcome back Jeff Nelson of Nelly Sportsline (nellysports.com) as the defending champion of the Vegas Wise Guys contest. We also have back former champions Brad Diamond, Southern Comfort, Fairway Jay, Marc Lawrence and Bob Dietz, all returning to compete for another distinguished championship.
Here are the basics of the VWG contest. Contestants submit 2 selections per week, a designated best bet worth 2 points and a single play worth one point.
